YO! Sushi, Glasgow Fort

28th August 2017

THE third YO! Sushi restaurant to be handled by Pacific has been completed at the Glasgow Fort shopping centre.

Situated in a new unit formed from two smaller ones that were vacated by previous business tenants, the conveyor belt diner was handed over to the delighted clients at the end of August 2017.

And it boasts the same design features and high-end fittings that are synonymous with YO! outlets across the United Kingdom, including the two others completed by Pacific in Glasgow city centre and at Edinburgh International Airport.

The project was extensive and involved “knocking through” two empty retail units to create one, larger new one to house the diner.

Works included:

  • Plastering
  • Glazing
  • Flooring
  • Tiling
  • Canopies
  • Counter tops
  • Seating
  • Conveyor belt installation
  • Feature lighting
  • Plumbing
  • Mechanical and electrical
  • Kitchen appliance installation
  • Sound system
  • Signage
  • Cladding
  • Welcome booth
  • Installation of toilets

The restaurant chain, famous for its conveyor belt system delivering Japanese food to diners, now boasts five outlets in Glasgow.

YO!’s other four restaurants are located at Braehead shopping centre, Silverburn shopping centre, within Fraser’s department store on Buchanan Street and on West George Street.

The Glasgow Fort diner boasts the company’s signature features such as lava lamps, colourful lighting, table-top steel taps, black and white tiling, feature wooden screens, crisp joinery, minimalist furniture and fittings, sleek surfaces and full-height windows.

Situated at the main entrance of The Fort, the restaurant will have an outside seating area for al fresco dining unlike any other YO! restaurant.

Commenting on the opening of the diner,  YO! CEO, Robin Rowland said: “We have been blown away by the response to our return to the city centre. Glasgow loves YO! and the feeling is mutual.

“The arrival now of YO! Glasgow Fort will be another fitting statement for the city and YO! fans can expect to enjoy all their popular favourites, as well as exciting new food offerings, and all set against a striking new design aesthetic.”

Phil Goodman, Centre Director at Glasgow Fort, added: “We are delighted to be welcoming YO! to Glasgow Fort in this fantastic custom-built unit.”

Founded by British entrepreneur Simon Woodroffe in 1997, YO! has about 100 restaurants worldwide.
