Pacific Building were entrusted with a super-fast conversion and upgrading of this Grade-A listed building to form a restaurant and bar for JD Wetherspoon.
Part of a £2million development project of the premises, which had previously lain empty for a number of years, works included the installation of three new bars, flooring and stone and timber works, in addition to the installation of external floodlighting – all of which was to be completed within two just weeks, following a great deal of forward planning by the client.
To ensure that the project was completed within tight timescales set by them, Pacific Building fast-tracked the works by utilising double shift patterns and comprehensive scheduling arrangements to meet the deadline.
Pacific Building worked strategically to coordinate a number of trades throughout the project, promoting considerate construction methods to ensure that all suppliers were mindful of having minimal impact on the others and a strong focus on achieving the goal.
When sourcing internal finishes, Pacific Building ensured that all materials were “like for like”, such as reclaimed pitch pine flooring and other regenerated materials.
Working in close consultation with English Heritage, Pacific Building were able to ensure that the premises retained the integrity of a historic building.
The project was completed to the highest standard, and the Union Rooms opened on time, and to much critical acclaim. JD Wetherspoon continue to enjoy a successful relationship with Pacific Building, who have proven their ability to deliver first time, every time, on a number of their projects throughout the UK.
