IT’S a good time to flutter by the Melville Inn for a bite to eat or a drink – now that it has been comprehensively made over by Pacific.
Situated right beside the hugely popular Edinburgh Insect and Butterfly World in Lasswade, Midlothian, this historic inn oozes traditional charm and rural character.
So, a sympathetic hand was required to ensure that it retained all the features and appeal that make it so popular with locals and visitors to the area alike.
The four-week refurbishment project – which included a one-week full shutdown of the business – comprised:
- A total strip-out of internal fixtures and fittings, including floor coverings, tiling, bric-a-brac, lighting, electrical equipment and full kitchen removal
- Kitchen refit
- Plumbing
- Timber flooring
- Carpets
- New toilets
- Bar refix
- Drinks fonts
- French polishing
- Signage inside and outside
- Tiling
- New furniture installation
- New decoration
- Refrigeration units
- New lighting
- Joinery
- Exterior building work and landscaping
The client company here was Mitchells & Butlers, one of the biggest operators of bars and restaurants in the United Kingdom.
The Melville Inn trades under the company’s Vintage Inns brand, which appeals to families and diners who appreciate restaurants and bars with a rural, cozy appeal offering value-for-money meals.
