Gift to mental health body

THE second donation of Pacific’s anniversary year was made on October 29, 2014, when Stephen McLellan,  of RAMH (Recovery Across Mental Health) visited our office in Hillington.

RAMH, based in Paisley but active across much of West Central Scotland, is an independent voluntary sector organisation whose main aims are to enable people to recover from ill health and to promote wellbeing.

Occupying the gap between the National Health Service and Social Work support, the organisation provides critical professional intervention, help and guidance to thousands of people experiencing mental health problems.

RAMH provides various services to those in need, including counselling, life skills, education, crisis support, housing and employment.

The charity’s Chief Executive Stephen McLellan was delighted to receive a cheque for £500 from Pacific Managing Director Brian Gallacher, who said: “I am pleased that we are able to support RAMH, as it is an extremely important organisation that provides essential support to people in a vulnerable position.”

Stephen added: “We were pleasantly surprised when we heard, out of the blue, that Pacific wanted to make a donation to our organisation.

“We were, of course, only too happy to accept, as this money – along with the other sources of funding we benefit from – allows us to continue to help people in a vulnerable position due to mental health issues in Renfrewshire and elsewhere.

“Thankfully, society is becoming more open about mental health, but we continue to strive to challenge the stigmas and stereotypes associated with mental health that can hinder full and speedy recovery for those unlucky enough to find themselves in need of support.

“We are extremely grateful to Brian and all at Pacific Building for thinking of us and for making a contribution to the local voluntary sector.”
