PACIFIC completed their first-ever commission from the further education sector with the successful delivery of a new reception area for the University of Edinburgh at its Learning, Teaching and Web Services headquarters in Argyle House, which is off the Grassmarket in the capital.

It presented no challenges, given the company’s vast experience of delivering similar works for other major clients in comparable public environments with a heavy footfall where visual appeal and practicality have to be balanced.

Given the requirement by the university for a minimal disruption to academic life, Pacific opted to utilise night-working patterns – a practice the company has deployed on many projects before to ensure trouble-free project delivery.

The works were commenced in the middle of February, 2020, and handed over to the clients at the start of March, 2020 – just four weeks later.

Pacific refurbished the existing counter and reception area and formed an entirely new office to the rear with upward-looking views of the imposing Edinburgh Castle.

Work included bespoke joinery, electrics, formation and installation of glazed partitions, high-specification data cabling and high-tech LED lighting and dedicated control systems. as well as all decor to finish.
