Pacific had to construct and fit out to an extremely tight deadline a brand new out-of-town Miller & Carter steakhouse for Mitchells Butlers plc, the UK’s leading operators of pubs and restaurants, whose extensive stable of brand names include All Bar One, O’Neill’s, Browns and Harvester, and whose annual turnover from 1600 outlets runs to nearly £2billion.
The premises had previously been a rustic pub and restaurant that has been a suburban landmark, appealing to local residents and visitors to the area.
Pacific drew on their vast experience of delivering to deadline and to budget on leisure contracts. The project was commenced on October 10, 2016, and handed over to the client on November 10 – just four weeks later.
As one of Mitchells & Butlers’ premier brands, Pacific were conscious of the fact that the finished article had to strike an upmarket visual note as well as deliver in terms of food and drink. The extensive refurbishment involved a new kitchen, repositioning of the bar, stone flooring, replacement windows, doors, partitions, entrance path with post-and-rope fencing, changed roofing profile over the entrance porch, patio and paving, carpets, curtains, tiling, other flooring, toilets, decoration, waiting staff stations, seating, signage, landscaping and gardening.
The Miller & Carter is now open, serving lunch and dinner to hundreds of customers every week, and it is a valuable, welcome and stylish addition to tone of Glasgow’s most upmarket residential areas. This was the third Miller & Carter project to have been undertaken by Pacific – it followed the completion of the M&Cs on the outskirts of Edinburgh and in Glasgow city centre.
