Pacific had to fit out to a tight deadline a brand new Mexican diner at Edinburgh International Airport. Barburrito has partnered with The Restaurant Group (TRG) to open outlets at airports, and this was the first contract Pacific signed with the company who are major players in the UK restaurant scene with more than 500 outlets at various locations across the country.
Situated in a unit beyond security at the airport, it used to house a bar before being selected to be the new home for a Barburrito. Downtime had to be kept to a minimum – for the benefit of the clients and the airport.
Pacific’s huge experience of delivering projects to budget and to schedule in busy “live” public locations was key, as was the company’s intimate understanding of the workings of airports, where security-sensitive considerations and passenger movements at almost all hours of the day can have a significant impact on work patterns and project delivery.
The comission was commenced towards the end of 2017 and was handed over to the clients in the middle of January, 2018 – just eight weeks later.
Barburrito is now open, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to thousands of travellers every week, and it is a colourful addition to the overall Edinburgh International Airport experience. Bench seating, booths, ceiling rafts, mood lighting, vibrant wall coverings and other high-quality fittings contribute to a striking presence that attracts the eye of passing passengers.
