SENIOR buyer Anne Tavendale has her brain to thank after passing with flying colours at the end of the first year of her HNC Construction Management studies.
She passed all eight modules of the course she attends at South Lanarkshire College in East Kilbride – although the COVID-19 pandemic meant much of the work had to be done from home instead of in class.
Anne said: “Like most students at colleges and universities across the UK, on-campus learning came to an end in March.
“And, to be honest, it made for hard going towards the end, having no lecturer and studying from my living room.
“But I got there in the end, and I’m actually rather chuffed with myself.”
Anne, who is now looking forward to completing the second and final year next year, added: “I’ve been in construction for 33 years and not really done anything to further myself.
“But now I feel I have addressed that and I have succeeded in activating a part of my brain that was stagnating.”
